Holy Week is Almost Here

Holy Week, the week before Resurrection Sunday, is often observed as a purposeful time to reflect on all that Christ’s sacrifice means for our lives. If you haven’t already been spending time in the Bible every day, you might consider starting a Reading Plan now to prepare your heart for this special time. A few plans we recommend are Prayer (which we discuss more below), The Story of Easter, and Words of Jesus During Passion Week. Any one of these Reading Plans can help you consistently reconnect with the Bible between now and Resurrection Sunday.

YouVersion.com, Other Platforms Get Updates

Have you noticed how many updates and new features have been rolled out to YouVersion platforms lately? We'll get to those in a moment, but first we want to apologize for times when YouVersion was unavailable or excessively slow in the last few weeks. Some of these problems were related to new development and others were unfortunately coincidental interruptions from our servers. The bottom line—anything that gets in the way of dependable YouVersion service is unacceptable to us. We are doing everything in our power to address the speed and reliability of the website and the app, and hope you'll see significant improvement in the coming weeks. And now, on to the latest updates...

If you haven’t been to YouVersion.com recently, as we just shared on our blog, it now looks and feels more like the Bible App™. And speaking of the Bible App, we just updated iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch) Android, and Windows Phone. Each platform received new features and performance tweaks, with iPad getting a complete makeover to take full advantage of that platform’s strengths. It’s even on BlackBerry Playbook! If you haven’t checked out the newest version of the Bible App on your device, we’d encourage you to update soon.

Featured Reading Plan: Prayer

More than once, Jesus started a message with the phrase, “When you pray…” Prayer was so important to Him, He naturally assumed that we would do it. The Prayer Reading Plan offers practical examples from Scripture that can give us insight on how we should pray, as well as inspiration and encouragement to help us “pray constantly.”

Did You Know?

YouVersion.com now offers Bookmarks and Notes that stay synced with the Bible App. Even better, Bookmarks, Notes, highlights, and sharing at YouVersion.com all work just like they do in the Bible App. To add a Bookmark or Note to a passage at YouVersion.com, or to highlight or share a passage, just click on each verse you want. The “Selected” button at the top of the Reader—near the middle—displays a number that shows how many verses you’ve selected. When you click the Selected button, a pull-down menu displays. Just click on what you want to do and follow the prompts.

In Your Own Words

  • “One of the best accountability partners is my @YouVersion iPhone app. Every morning it reminds me of my Bible reading 4 the day!”
    —Blake
  • “In the last two days, I just heard the book of Colossians read to me. What a powerful book.”
    —Giselle
  • “I read 3 #YouVersion daily devotionals while I'm still in bed, so I can get up and be ready for whatever the world throws at me!”
    —Estelle

What's New

You might have noticed a few more Bible versions in the Bible App recently. As we shared on our blog, that’s because we just added 86 new versions in 69 more languages—which means we now offer 294 versions in 144 languages! Some are even available for download as offline versions. As always, these Bible versions are made available to the worldwide YouVersion community only through the generosity of our publishing partners. To learn how to switch to a different Bible version—or how to download one—visit our Support site, choose your language and device type, and look under “Other Features.”
